Shake Things Up

Last Friday I sat down with my friend and colleague, Nathan Webster of NW & Associates, LLC to discuss our upcoming event, Coffee Chats. We had a great time talking, not only about what to expect at Coffee Chats in the coming months, but also about why I value shaking things up in my own life, and the lives of others.

A number of years ago I had the privilege of having several next generation adults live in my house for a few years. It was one of the most fun, challenging, memorable, and inspiring seasons of my life. As the “older” person during our hang out times, I thought I would be the one inspiring and pouring into them… I was wrong.

What actually happened was they daily challenged and inspired me, especially in how I chose (and still choose) to live my life. They often asked questions I couldn’t answer, and left me extremely uncomfortable. I won’t bore you with details of that season in my life. More importantly…
here’s what I want you to hear:

Uncomfortable is not bad… it’s just.. uncomfortable.

That time in my life taught me a lot about how growth happens because we choose to intentionally place ourselves in an uncomfortable places.

Coffee Chats is a place to do just that and
our first event is next week, September 25, at 7 AM!

I am looking forward to our first guest speaker: Seidy of Kafiex Roasters – Coffee Lab in Vancouver, Washington. She is going to share some of their amazing coffee and discuss their social good business model, why they support Cafe Feminino, and how they stay involved in their roasting process from farm to cup!

Take a few minutes to listen in on iTunes as Nathan and I talk more about what to expect on September 25, and each month this Fall at Coffee Chats! No iTunes Account? Listen in on Soundcloud below!
